This year will be my 17th year of teaching and my 9th at Bay View. I have taught 1st thru 6th. I graduated from WWU in Bellingham with my B.A. in Special Education, Elementary Education, and Early Childhood Education. I attended Lesley University and earned my M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis on teaching through integration of the creative arts. Eight years ago I earned my National Board Certificate in Middle Childhood. This year I've begun the National Board Certificate renewal process. Most of my recent professional development has been in technology, art integration and literacy instruction. I am passionate about teaching and love both working with the kids and refining my practice.
The mission for this class is to build a community where it is safe to learn and share. Students have a voice in decision-making as much as possible and help to solve issues that arise. We will work on communicating our thinking verbally and in writing throughout the subject areas and in social situations. Students are celebrated for their academic growth and efforts, with the understanding that they are all headed toward the same high standards, but with their own unique style and pace. Once students feel safe to learn and share they will be ready for the fun but challenging curriculum of 6th grade.

I enjoy working with people, especially kids. I love to laugh, be silly, and explore the amazing world we live in. I always take my job seriously and strive to make it a safe, productive learning environment for all students. Please join me this year in creating some awesome memories and meeting the high standards of 6th grade.
